ENTRY RULES

In all categories (with the exception of Mixed) entering a 5 man team is allowed. At the start of each level of competition (District and Southern) the team will be required to notify the SACA office of the 4 (out of the 5 that were named on the entry form) players that will be competing in that competition. This notification must be made to the SACA office at least 24 hours prior to your first game. If you’re successful at the Southerns, you will be required to determine the 4 individuals that will be playing in the Provincials within 24 hours of your last game. If, during the competition, one of your players cannot play, spares will only be granted if their reason falls under the guidelines listed in the Competition Policy/Guide (i.e. illness, injury, death in the family, etc). In Districts and Southern’s this spare can be anyone who qualifies under the terms of the event, however in the Provincials the spare must come from the spare pool. If you have any questions or as situations arise during the season, please contact the SACA office for clarification.

Please note that your 5th player cannot play for any other team in the same category (i.e. Seniors) for the entire season

ENTRIES

  • Accepted entries must have a minimum of 4 named participants
  • No refunds after entry deadline
  • No receipt will be issued, unless requested
  • Teams winning a district berth are required to sign an Intent Form in order to advance to their respective Southern Competition. Failure to comply will result in the team being disqualified and the runner-up team attending in their place.

SUBSTITUTION

  • Teams must confirm their roster of 4 players prior to the first game and must play with at least 2 registered players.
  • A team may play with 3 players. If a player(s) is unable to play due to illness, injury or extenuating circumstances, spares or replacements are permitted. In Mixed competition an eligible spare or replacement must be used as four players are required.
  • Teams MUST advise the Head Official or Playdown Coordinator of any roster changes (including coaches) prior to playing the next game.
  • SPARE : Is a temporary player used on a game by game basis (the original player may return to the team at the beginning of a subsequent game).
  • REPLACEMENT : Must continue with the team to the next level of competition and sign the SACA Intent Form. Only 1 replacement player per team. A spare or replacement player must meet all eligibility rules of the competition and may not be registered on another team at the same Playdown level.
  • ELIGIBILITY IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TEAM. Teams winning a berth to the Southerns will sign a SACA Intent Form stating the four players that will compete at the Southerns/Provincials. If two or more players of a winning team are unable to continue to the next level of competition, a runner-up team may continue in their place.
  • Junior, Juvenile, Bantam Spare/replacement players must produce proof of age prior to playing their first game.

LAST CHANCE QUALIFIER

  • Open to teams in Men's, who chose not to enter districts, or who did not earn a berth in the district playdowns.

RESIDENCY

  • Participants in the competitions governed by the Southern Alberta Curling Association (SACA) leading to a provincial championship, must be a bonafide resident within the jurisdictional boundaries of the ACF for 30 continuous days prior to the entry deadline for that competition. Upon written application to the Board of Directors of SACA, exceptions may be granted for members of the armed forces, university or college students, or any other person as may be decided by the Directors of SACA. Upon an infraction of this provision, the entire team shall become ineligible for further competition.

RULES OF PLAY

  • The rules and regulations noted on this entry form comprise a portion of the Competitions Policy governing SACA playdowns. Competitors are expected to familiarize themselves with the entire policy.
